Trader's Point
A thousand stars dance in the night-black skies. Sparkling. Their light cascades upon the world, filling the Isles of Arragoth with diamond brilliance. It is good. Yet I know it is soon to end. For I feel the coming of the god-kin Arragoth back to his lands. He is coming with fire. With lava. With terror. Above all he is coming with death.
That is the future, but for now the fires are ours. The camp fires without and within the grand marquee of Trader's Point. Their flames dance upward, reflecting the heavenly rhythm of the stars. Within the marquee, my people sit. The blessed ones; hunters and gatherers, builders and warriors are waited on by the servants of my folk. Mead and fine food flow for them on this the ceremony night. And the musicians play. The pipes, the voices, and above all the drums, beat the rhythms of life. In the center of all am I.
I am the Queen, Salome. I dance. I dance because I know the power of the magic therein. With silken scarf, I dance the enchantment of the seventh veil. With staff and bell, I dance the fertility of the morris. With iron axe, I dance the power of the war-dance. In every step of every dance I bring power to my people. It is power I know they will need to face the coming cataclysm. Yet I know, alone, it is not power enough. We must explore. We must build our nation, and combine with that of others. Unlike times past, we must look to the world as more than trading opportunities. We must face the uncertain future with allies. And we shall. Come, whomever you may be. If you will face the coming terror, join with my people in the dance.
Djuuz,
Salome
