The Story of the Gnomes: Gnomes are small demi-humans known especially for their weird and wonderful inventions. Another peculiar trait is their fast and continuous speech. The Gnomish capital of the Isles is Farawayfromorl (it's full name being Farawayfromorlthoznastyorcsandbeastindidlezarfimanilogobutomalikmabil). The city of Farawayfromorl rises out of the planes, being formed by a series of inter-linking towers. These large structures counter balance each other via an array of cables and struts. Wheeled vehicles ride along the cables providing transport between the buildings. The Gnomes spend their days engaged in endless conversations or creating crazy gadgets. Although the practicality of many of these inventions may be questioned the gnomes' creativeness is one quality that makes such a dangerous opponent. The city was built on top of large gem mine with deposits that seem to be endless. So magic is very common and accessible to the average Gnome. This ancient Stone was found in the year of the lady 827 It's interpretation was completed in the year of the stone 999 by the wizard Slowasastone the patient. The true power and ancient warning of the text of magic and history was not discovered until last year. Excerpt from the ancient Legends of the worlds birthing. In the beginning the Gods of Fire ruled the Isles. As the sacred flame of the gods dwindled, they spawned Arragoth. Arragoth was the son of the Fire Gods, He ruled the Isles and all that walked or breathed upon them. He enforced his rule via the dreaded Lava Legions. Molten troops which marched from the Volcano based on each of the Isles. Any who opposed Arragoth were quickly brought to a fiery death. The rule of Arragoth was absolute for many a millennium, until the worlds orbit reached its' furthest point from the Sun. At this point the world cooled and Arragoth power waned. It is rumored that Arragoth, not wanting to risk fading out of existence like the Gods of Fire before him, went into hibernation. Sealed inside his volcanic fortress he sank into a deep slumber. As the centuries have passed various races looking for land retook control of the Islands surrounding Arragoths' domain, ours among them. The Lava Legions remained apparently dormant inside each islands central volcano. Eventually Arragoth was only perceived by the populace as a harmless legend of the distant past. I speak to the other rulers and ask for the creation of an alliance. It's been nearly five centuries since the departure of Arragoth from the surface world. Now, the ground is beginning to rumble. Many pass it off as natural phenomenon, but my advisers, wizards, and oracles have stumbled onto the grim truth. At the start of next year, Arragoth will return. Unleashing his legions to reclaim the peripheral islands of his former domain. Now we each of us in our own way are attempting to take control of this situation in our own way. Gathering forces in large cities, studying ancient magic's, etc. We must realize that we will be no match for an awakened Arragoth individually, and hence hasten to form alliances and storm his domain while the son of the Fire Gods is vulnerable. Long live King Bentheranddonethat magnanimous leader of the Gnomish People! Who will join with him and his people as he enters mortal combat with the foul minions of Arragoth? Rumors have spread that the Orcs and Under Dwarves have fallen to the Legions of Lava is this true? I wish to trade food and gems for metals and stone. Has anyone discovered the locations of the Lava Mountains yet? I'd like to know which direction to look for invaders. I came late to this battle but my people are clever and my will is strong. From the hand of the Chief clerk of out going missives to foreign potentates to King Bentheranddonethat magnanimous
