Chronicles of Andoria, Vol 1 Chronicles of the Rulers of Andoria1Volume 1
After years and years of total male domination of the Gnomes' world, and a nearly uninterrupted sequence of Gnomish kings, it is now time for a change. More than 60%2 of all gnomes are female. And yet, if the short episode of Queen Whythehelldoyouexperimentalldayandwecarethechildren is not counted, the female gnomes never had their share in the government of our lands. This must stop, and it will.
We call out the age of Queens!
To illustrate the necessity, and her willingness, to undergo the most drastical of reforms, the leader of the Neabudara gnomes, Countess Shuri Flyingmachinewithanewthrottletocontrolsidetilting has decided to change her name, once she becomes Queen. After her coronation, she will be called queen 'Eve I'.
The leader of the gnomes of Bombandaric, Duke Lecostarius, has already decided to back Queen Eve. We have started to send out messengers with the news. We expect the letters of acceptance of the rulership of the Queen from the other leaders of the gnomish tribes in the next few weeks. History, demographic situation, and justice are on our side.
Given on the 1st day of the dawning of the new age of Queens,
Lecostarius
1The fact that the gnomes of Bombandaric and Neabudara are the rightful heirs of the Throne of Andoria is currently disputed by a handful of would-be usurpers of the throne. This misled fellow gnomes will no doubt acknowledge the rightfulness of the claims of Bombandaric and Neabudara in the near future. Already some, er... Missionars, are being recruited and will soon be sent to their regions to help them see facts in the right way.
2The birth statistics of gnomes is distributed 50-50. However, in their young age, male gnomes run through a phase of what they call "heavy experimenting", that in the end leads to the final 60-40 distribution in the gnomish society.

Hail Fellow Wizards, I am Gorbaal, the new Leader of the Gnomes. Welcome to all of you in this new quest against Arragoth. I was born in a time of peace in a town called Camp Jollymount. I grew up peacefully amongst the Hill Dwarves who populated the region. I enjoyed the life in the hills and was taught in the military arts by my father who used to be one of the greatest Hill Dwarves leader. I was next to my father during the great war against Arragoth and I could see how he was leading his men. I could see him at the Fortress of Arragoth when they opened the Domains of Control. I celebrated with them the elimination of the Lava Legions and the destruction of the son of the Fire God. But my father never let me look through the Portal of Fire. Nevertheless I heard the rumour later on that Arragoth was not really dead and that he would most likely return one day. I never knew my mother but apparently she was a Gnome Princess when my father met her. She married my father in a grand ceremony to strengthen the alliance between his Dwarves and her Gnomes. As I heard they lived happily for a little while living in the Camp Jollymount Palace. My mother became pregnant and the whole population rejoiced. But unfortunately she died when she gave birth to me. It was a sad moment for all the Dwarves and Gnomes. People tell me I look a lot like her. For sure I look more like a Gnome I also talk a lot like them which used to irritate some of the Dwarves leaders. I also have the gnomish gift of inventions. I remember playing with my father's tools and trying to experiment. Now and then there would be an explosion and my father would get all mad at me. I did more experiments later in my file and I became better at it. Now a new time has come and as the rumour had said Arragoth has returned. It is now my time to be a leader and I have been chosen to lead the Gnomes. We will fight Arragoth again until he is dead forever and we will destroy all his Lava Legions again, his Fortress, his tunnels and other hideaways, just like our fathers did in the old days. Please join us all against this evil son of the Fire God and his famous Lava Legions. There will be victory at the end for the free people. We will liberate the world from Arragoth forever. Don't be fooled, it won't be easy but with courage and perseverance and after many hard fought battles we will get there. We hope that all the nations will join us in this adventure, an adventure which will for sure be remembered in all memories for a very long time. In the words of my fellow Gnomes "The time for peace has passed. The time for war is to come. In between we shall all find out who has the strength, cunning, willpower, and resources to name themselves competent rulers of the lands. In alliance is power; alone we are nothing more than bubbles on a Guidness". These words ring with truth through most of the Gnomes camps. So all that would go against us will die, and all that would ally themselves with us shall be safe, for as long as they remain true allies. WARNING Anyone coming against us will be dealt with accordingly. Any wrongful or mistrustful act, especially in political matters, will be dealt with accordingly. The Gnomes are clearly one of the most clever races to face on the field of battle. Our culture revolves around the warriors and ensures only the strongest survive. We are not above pillaging your kingdom to accumulate an invaluable supply of resources. So please contact me at alain_hofmann@hotmail.com Gorbaal, High Lord of Darnfiasbernenus. P.S. We are a joyful bunch of people and we just love our inventions. But be very careful as some of them can be very dangerous. We hope that you will visit us one day and that we can have a bright feast in your honor in our capital city. We like parties so don't hesitate, if you ever come to our great city of Darnfiasbernenus, we will give you enough of our special potions to get you drunk for the rest of the campaign. All kinds of other entertainment can also be provided on request. Below is a picture of our last party in case you would like to have a preview. Latest News We have just been attacked by our northern neighbors the Hill Dwarves. We played a nasty trick on them and they all retreated or got killed. We liked that trick so much that we might want to try it again next month. Ha! Dwarves are slow and stupid, we gonna try different other tricks on them for a while and then we gonna show them who we really are. No one can attack the Gnomes and not be consequently punished. This news of course is no good as we were hoping to present a unified front against Arragoth. Hopefully our other neighbors the High Elves will be more supportive of our goals. Already we have some ambassador in their town and peace seems to be possible. We respect the High Elves culture and we hope that we can enlist their support against Arragoth and Hill Dwarves. More news will certainly come during the next few months but we are now preparing our armies. Ragadagadadafalamakala!

"The wolves stopped in the clearing, the male sniffing the ground careful. There were freshly dug mounds of earth by the forest and he spent a long time checking those. He could find no trace of the scent he was after, but there was something else here, something he had not sensed in a long time. Power. He began to wonder what this hunt would involve. His two mates were also checking the area, they were bodies here, men had fought and died here, power had been used here. There was a lot of blood, a lot of mixed scents. Fear still hung in the air, but the feel of power tried to overwhelm all of his other senses, sitting on the scents, partially masking them. Underneath the strong sense, he could almost taste another one, a lesser one, trying to hide, trying not to be seen, but it was there.
He checked with the two females, but they could only sense the one, it blocked their sense and they were desperate to get away. With one last check, he started running again, picking up his pace, knowing that he needed to find his prey soon. The other two wolves followed him soundlessly out of the glade.
Grinning wickedly the Shadow Mage Kel'Dakar let the spell of invisibility wane. And so the game begins. The seeds of war have been sown. Soon he would be hiding no more. The Plainsmen's wolves had nearly detected him this time. The leader of the pack was strong, but as of yet even he was unaware of the destruction he would have unleashed upon his small pack had he actually been successful at finding the Shadow Mage."

For those who would call me enemy I am death. If you are not by my side, you are in my way.
My Dark Lords call, I must go and sacrifice another slave now before they decide to take one of my mistresses instead. I will be seeing you soon, pray it is not as an enemy.
Sincerely,
Kel'Dakar

Ah, this makes me angry, even if it's Leco, my ally and best friend who said it. Why are males always that arrogant! 'We call out the age of Queens!' Is it up to him to call out that it's my reign now? Do I care whether it's the age of Queens? Let it be the age of kings, I don't mind as long as I have got a realm OF MY OWN. Why the hell does Leco talk about history, justice and demographic situation? Was it history, justice or the demographic situation in my realm which gave my position to me? Every male gnome in Neabudara will laugh about this. But they don't laugh about REAL POWER. They don't laugh if the candidates they supported are accused of treachery and fall to a newly invented KillGnomotine, to a poison disguised as perfume, or to those weapons said to be typical female ones. No female gnome will appraise my raise to power, as it means war, and which woman ever applauded to her sons being forced to become soldiers, the bakery around the corner being destroyed during a fight for the town, her parents dying during the battle, mean dark creatures apprearing in the skies and all her brooms being misused to build new flying machines (gnomes learnt this trick from witches, for those who don't know well gnomish history, and better believe in it, as it works!). So Leco, well said, a very honourable theoretical idea to base a reign upon the people and their will, but not made for this world. There's no need for justification of real power than power itself. The will of the people is irrelevant, on the contrary, it is contraproductive. The people's will is peace, and how do you ever want a state to grow and to prosper without war? Did you hear about the gnomish tribe who tried to win new land by taking it from the sea, building huge dikes against the floods? You didn't? Well, you see, they were too busy with their peaceful stupid occupation to survive the invasion of their neighbour tribe into their land. One example out of many, you should know them as you seem to have studied history - you even know Queen Whythehelldoyouexperimentalldayandwecarethechildren. By the while, she died when her son's newly developed missile-launcher exploding , it was declared to have been an accident. Should she have cared more for the children or rather limited the male addiction for experiments and sent them to war more often? And what did you say - is it indeed a drastical reform that now a gnomish tribe is led by a queen? Oh no, why don't you acknowledge what everybody knows, but never admits? Do you know this saying: 'Behind each strong man stands a strong woman'? I know these strong gnomish women standing behind the strong men of the gnomish empires, I was one of them until three months ago when my friends and I decided to take the power from this completely incapable leader of our tribe, Lord WhythehelldonttheyobeyatoncewhenIkindlyaskthemtodosomething? His end was unspectacular and discipline increased significantly since that day within my tribe. Gnomish women form circles, they get information the leader of every secret service only can dream of, they have more possibilities to influence the government than any minister, the civil servents try to guess their wishes in advance, and their protégés never get judged by any tribunal. Their inventions aren't spectacular, but mostly small, mean and effective. And people know nothing of them but their smiling pretty face. Have a closer look at them next time! It might be worth it. What do you think is behind this pretty mask? Take care not to lose your throne, all these women are just one step away from power and I might be an attractive model for their future career. Of course standing in the light means a minor risk...but women are known to be careful and far-sighted beings, they will minimize every risk. I myself are supported by my friends now who serve me as wise advisors and let me profit of our network, and their husbands, the mightiest men of Neabudara, are well under control, too. So my basis of power is stronger than every king's power in Andoria ever has been. I am very curious how the empires of my male colleagues will develop, I already gave my dear ally Lecostarius some hints how to control and use these conspiratory circles of gnomish women, and if you still see him alive at the end of this tournament, my advice either was good or my example wasn't attractive enough for these women who only will take over power openly if it gives them more advantages than acting behind the stage. But Leco has good chances to survive, as I will support him, too, and he mostly is able to interact with women very well. But I hope of course that Leco's prophecy will come true that either my foes will lose their jobs - and their heads? - to inner fights, or that they will accept me as their queen, as the first queen of the unified gnomish empire of Andoria.
