SPECIFICATIONS
- The tournament will be played in 3 rounds with a maximum of 25 turns per round.
- Teams will be seeded according to their current tournament score. So after the first round,
the two teams who did best in the first round will face each other, etc. In the first
round the teams will be seeded based on their current commercial score, sometimes
adjusted a little because of extensive playtest experience
- The teams get scores based on their EMPIRE RATING as it appears on the report.
The team score is calculated by taking the square root of the combined (multiplied)
empire ratings of the individual team members. The following additional rules apply to the scoring system:
- Each team has a current team score each round which is the highest team score they ever had
during that round. So each turn the turn team score is calculated and if it is higher than
the current team score it replaces the current team score.
- Teams that have a higher current team score than their direct opponents are rewarded
with the addition of the difference between the current team scores to their current team score
- If an individual player is vanquished his empire rating for all following turns that the
round lasts will be set to the highest empire rating he achieved
during the turns that he lived.
- If one team drops out during a round, the game ends and an appriopriate solution will be
found to reward the team that did not drop.
- If one team succeeds in utterly destroying the other side before the end of turn 25, that team
will be rewarded greatly. They will get the same team score as the highest team score ever of that
round and 2% will be added per round that they don't have to play. The percentage is not continuously compounded.
Because the difference between dropping out and being vanquished is sometimes a bit fuzzy,
a decision will be taken by the gamemasters whether a vanquish was a real vanquish.
- Points will be given when a round is finished. The points decide who wins the tournament in the end. The team
who ends first in a round will be given the maximum amount of points. The points are given in this sequence:
25 for the first, 22 for the second, then 19, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 4, and 3 for the last team in a round.
Furthermore if a team has higher score than their direct opponents, they will receive a bonus of 5 points.
- Two teams can never fight each other twice in the tournament. When two teams should
fight each other due to current ranking, a manual adjustment will be made (like the 3rd ranked
team fights the 5th ranked team).
- It is possible to write a blurb for each round, though the GMs don't matter if you
sent the same for each round. Gold is less needed in the tournament compared to normal games,
so I hope blurbs won't make the difference!
